TAKACHSIN LODGE #173

Lodge History

The Lodge was the result of a merger of three councils in April 1973.

Harrison Trails Council of Lafayette, Indiana, which started in January, 1940 and their OA Lodge was formed on January 29, 1940 and was the 173rd lodge to form nationally, It was called "Ojibwa".

Meshingomeshia Council of Marion, IN, which started in June, 1944 and their OA Lodge was formed in June, 1944 and was Lodge 269 to form nationally and was called "Me-She-Kin-No-Quah".

Three Rivers Council of Logansport, Indiana, which was started in October, 1949 and their OA Lodge was formed in 1951 and was Lodge 425 to form nationally and was called "Tipicon".

The resulting council is Sagamore Council #162, in Kokomo, Indiana and as a result of the merger the Lodge selected the oldest number (173) and selected a new name "Takachsin".

The 1994 NOAC was held at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN and Takachsin Lodge was the service lodge with over 100 members giving service to this great event.

In 2006 Takachsin Lodge was the service lodge for the section C2C at Camp Belzer. A total of 47 members from the lodge helped serve for the section.

In 2010 after another section realignment the Takachsin Lodge was selected to host the 2010 Conclave at Cary Camp.
